Equal Justice Initiative

A short time ago, I visited the Legacy Museum in Montgomery, AL. To say that I was blown away was an understatement. The Equal Justice Initiative (EJI), is a non-profit organization that aims to reform criminal justice, improve racial justice, and better educate the public about racism and social injustice. This organization is unbelievable. My heart was forever changed after reading and watching videos about the horrendous conditions in which inmates are treated in some prisons. I also learned the details of the early history of enslaved Africans to the most recent history of mass incarceration and segregation. In learning all of this, I haven’t been the same since. It is important that we support organizations like this to bring the truth up to the surface by educating the public on the facts of history.
